The
CEC at RB Today
In May 2004, The Continuing Education Center at Rancho Bernardo became
a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation following the closing of
its 25 years of operation as an affiliate of the San Diego State
University Extended Studies Department. The “new” CEC at RB
accepted the very generous offer of The Remington Club to locate its
headquarters and classroom activities in the deluxe residential complex
for seniors in the heart of Rancho Bernardo. Here in
well-equipped and comfortable accommodations, the CEC at RB has
provided 80-90 lectures each academic year given by highly qualified
professors from local universities and other experts in their fields.
CEC is dedicated to providing enrichment type, non-credit college level
classes and other stimulating activities for area residents. Daytime
lectures cover a wide variety of subjects such as history, literature,
science, philosophy, music, art and public affairs. Lectures are
held on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m.
in The Remington Club Multi-purpose Room.
Membership in The Continuing Education Center is open to all interested
adults. Members receive the monthly newsletter and reduced class
fees. The all-volunteer nature of CEC makes it possible to keep
fees to a minimum. Currently, annual tax- deductible membership
dues are $30 for an individual and $50 for a couple. Class fees
are $5 per session for members and $7 per session for non-members.
